SOOKY LA-LA LINGERIE

I founded Sooky La-La Lingerie in response to a gap in the market for smaller back and larger cup sizing, creating pieces with distinct character and space for self-expression through colour, fabric, and playful construction.

The brand approaches lingerie as a form of play, using construction and detail as a language for self-expression. Fabrics are manipulated through sewing techniques and the reworking of pre-loved textiles to emphasise texture and surface.

I designed and manufactured each piece in-house from concept to completion, establishing a cohesive and commercially considered design language with a distinctive, playful identity.

Flounder

This bra set introduces the collection’s exploration of movement through a reinterpretation of a vintage dress in printed polyester georgette with an abstract aquatic inspired repeat. The design translates surface pattern into garment form, using soft gathered detailing at the back leg openings of the briefs to reference flounder fins and create directional, fluid movement through the body.

Red Rosie

The bra set continues the collection’s exploration of softness and romantic expression, reworking pre loved printed fabric featuring a red and white ditsy repeat into delicate lingerie forms with a Valentine’s inspired direction.

Printed polyester chiffon is manipulated through soft construction techniques to extend surface interest, developing ruffles and rosettes that enhance movement and lightness while preserving the integrity of the original fabric. The bra set and briefs balance playful detailing with a restrained construction approach, maintaining fluidity and wearability.

Ruffle Lee Lee

This bra set reinterprets a 1950s lime and white gingham ruffle dress into a coordinated lingerie set, translating historical dress details into contemporary construction.

Ruffles are engineered along the bust and back of the briefs to create volume, texture, and silhouette emphasis, referencing 1950s styling while reworking it for a modern context. The bra set balances structure and softness, maintaining wearability while amplifying decorative movement

Saffron

The bra set features an all over paisley print developed in response to a client request for a simplified bra design. The delicate printed silk georgette limits heavy construction, so the design instead relies on soft polyester charmeuse ruffles to maintain fluidity and reduce structural complexity, allowing the print to remain the hero within a more commercial outcome while retaining the Sooky La-La Lingerie brand identity.

Crazy Mazzy

The cami set explores the playful and experimental side of Sooky La-La Lingerie, addressing a gap in the market through expressive surface design and detail led construction.

The cami set is developed in cotton poplin with an abstract print repeat, manipulated through applied pin tuck detailing to extend surface complexity and enhance depth. Bust panelling is introduced as a commercial and compositional device, breaking up the intensity of the full fabric application to support set cohesion and wearability. This is balanced with a polyester charmeuse body to create contrast, fluidity, and commercial clarity.

Mermaid

This bra set leverages the colour and textured surface of printed glass polyester satin to create fluid, mermaid inspired movement through soft gathers and lettuce-edge finishing across the bra set. The design reconnects to an oceanic theme, using construction and surface manipulation to echo water like motion and reinforce a sense of fluidity and flow throughout the garment. This unifies fabrication and design intent, strengthening the relationship between form, texture, and movement.
